The manifestation of ARKAIK began with the intent to create the most versatile and original sound in existence, using only the most intense, extreme and passionate influences.  Caring not for the generic mediocrity that plagues the majority of all genres these days, they have fiercely sought after a sound that places them far above what is considered "The Norm."  Human nature leads us to question existence, to find new pathways of thought and logic. ARKAIK is the musical representation of this form of idealology.  Simply listen to one song and the plethora of musical influences that form ARKAIK are devastatingly apparent.  This makes them appealing to all fans of heavy metal, regardless of their genre preference.

Chance Strickland and Jared Christianson started the band while still in high school with the intention of creating innovative and creative death metal, with the hopes of taking extreme music to the next level.  After various lineup changes, they met their current bass player "Eric Cohen while playing a show at Corona's Showcase Theatre.  With the sick low end solidified they began the search for another guitar player that shared the same vision as them.

The band later found "Craig Peters who filled the position perfectly. After a rotating door of drummers, they met current drummer Keith Roylance, who used to play drums for Craigs old band.  With the band now complete, they are finally ready to establish themselves as a formidable musical force.  Now signed to Unique Leader Records, We plan to hit the studio this summer to record our full length debut album "Reflections Within Dissonance" due out later this year.

Genre: Extreme Death Metal -

Jared Christianson:

I started playing guitar at the age of ten, I played mainly punk and rock music until I met current guitarist Chance Strickland. We got into heavier music and started writing our own version of heavy music which led to the formation of Arkaik. In 2004 we started the band with myself on guitar, which lasted for awhile until i felt the need to take over on vocals as well as guitar and even sometimes bass. After going through a few drummers I decided to play drums for Arkaik until we could find a vocalist who could fit our style or a drummer better than I was. After a worthy drummer was found I decided to focus on vocals and lyrical composition. Now after 5 years we have found our most solid and suitable line-up.

Eric Cohen:

I started playing bass at the age of 15 as a sophomore in high school.  My friend had a guitar and he said get a bass….so I did.  A lot of people I grew up with went through a punk stage, not me.  Straight metal.  Korn was probably my major influence.  They made me want to play bass.  From there it went to Mudvayne and Tool.  I started a nu-metal band with a name that was never official.  That lasted around 3 months.  Somewhere during the time of not being in a band I got into really heavy metal.  I started listening to Chimaira, Lamb of God, then Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation and Decapitated.  I was in a band called Neck Deep.  The whole band was stoners so the music was really slow, so I left that atrocity.  I then joined a band called Anachronism, an old-school death metal band from Riverside.  Then at the showcase in Corona one night I heard someone say they needed a bass player.  I showed Jared and Chance the bass in my trunk and that was it.  I joined Arkaik and the mayhem started.
My musical influences are Decapitated, Necrophagist, Spawn of Possession, Tool, everything by Les Claypool, Korn, Suffocation, Atheist, Arsis, Stu Hamn, and other cool metal.  Listen to metal or perish in the flames of hell.

Keith Roylance:

I was born January 22, 1986 in Angeles City, Philippines.  I moved to the states when I was 3 years old and started my interest in music when I was 7 years old where I got to sit on my first drum set and play it.

However, I didn't start actually playing the drums until I got my first drum set at the age of 15.  I got a 5-piece Taye drum set with Cymbals and Hardware, which I started playing as soon as I got home with it.  The first band I joined was with a buddy I met in High School and We formed a punk band called "the Laime".  We jammed mostly in my Garage but we played random local shows at skate parks and backyard parties.

While playing in "The Laime" I met Craig Peters who already had a band and needed a drummer.  I offered to jam with his band one weekend and learned 2 of their songs.  I borrowed a double bass pedal from a buddy and in that weekend learned the rest of their songs and officially joined what would eventually become Lower Existence.  Between 2002-2004, Lower Existence played many shows in the LA area, such as the Showcase Theater and the Whiskey A Go-Go.  We also auditioned for the metal reality show "Battle for Ozzfest".  30 bands out of 500 was selected for the LA auditions, Lower Existence being one of them.  We did not make it to the final show, but we still continued to play shows.

In the summer of 2005 I took a break from playing in bands to focus on other things, and I went on hiatus from playing drums untill 2008.  On June, 2008 I was recruited once again by Craig Peters to join another project he was already in.  This time the project was the Technical Death Metal band known as "Arkaik".  I officially joined Arkaik and restarted my hobby for playing drums.

Craig Peters:

I am 23 years old.  I've been playing guitar since age 15, never took lessons.  Some favorite bands are Suffocation, Pantera, Morbid Angel.  I was in a band before called Lower Existance for about 5 years.  I saw on MySpace that Arkaik was looking for a guitarist so I contacted them.  They liked what they heard & asked me to join them.
